Having tried to help someone yesterday, & failed, I realize I can only do it on myself!!
I'm assuming you've got the diagram to help?
The first stages shouldn't be too bad if so- putting 1 end thro' the slit, getting it over your head with the button hole bottom front: you can then button the stock via this button hole onto a suitably placed button on your shirt collar (not essential, but holds it all in place; hunt shirts should have a button correctly placed).
The first part of the knot is straightforward.
When you do the second stage of the knot, copying the diagram, identify the part of that knot that'll become the central bit of the finished product, & prioritize the flatness of that bit by generally tugging it around.
The 2 end bits you are left with need to cross over on your chest (as hopefully shown in the diagram insert you got with the stock). Hold them in position there with safety pins to your shirt: they won't stay otherwise, & they'll pull downwards & straight, even with a correctly placed stock pin (just below the main knot, quite high up under it). If they do they'll spoil the look of your carefully managed knot! Pro's all use safety pins, as
I discovered years after wondering why my knots look ok in front of the mirror & instantly deteriorate when I begin to move!! Keep practising & I'm sure you'll be fine!! |
