I first read Pete Remeys book on making natural hoof care work for you on a friend recomendation, I stumbled across an article on this book back in June that it was being written about barefoot performances horse in the UK, so promptly ordered a copy in advance, when book arrive read it in one night, already understood what it was on about, but put everyting in to a British climate kept horse, and British events etc. While I have not gone the full hog with what they suggest or even what Pete Remey suggest for a paddock layout etc, I have my field section off its huge interesting and like a baron wasteland, so that does the job, but to make it work you must look at your diet. Even if you do not want to go barefoot this book will give you a whole new look at horses feet and will prehaps show you that those of us with bare foot horse are not nuts and we are not all in to parelli or other such methods, we are just normal everyday horse owners with an open mind and a comitment to try new things. Very educational and very worth having a copy, as if you ever get a problem, that book shelf may be worth revisiting.

i agree with farasi! ABSOULTLY BRILLIANT BOOK WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!!!! i also think that the field layout they described isnt always possible so i have dug out my shelter and done a hardcore standing so it is rough and it is better than walking around mud constant! i have had to put fronts on and have to have backs on as soon as i get the money together as her feet are really sore but i am following the reccomended diet - unmollased suger beet and alpha a with seaweed and touch wood she is doing fine- at the mo she is on no bute as she is very foot sore but only for 2 more days then for a few days after her backs go on!
