Over night my poor limmy has developed Slimey stuff in the cleffs of his heel bulbs not entirely sure what it is :( its only in the front ones and worse in the offside. My friend has recommended: http://www.equine-america.co.uk/proddeta...trol-cream But open to suggestions on what to use. This morning I only had limited time to treat it before work so I hibisrubed the area and rinsed then applied Sudo Cream too keep anything nasty out. I think he's prone to getting damp related conditions because he's had that awful stuff in his legs when I got him.

Hi It sounds like some sort of thrush or other fungal infection. Any anti-fungal cream or just hibiscrub should help to reduce it although it also sounds like he has very contracted heels which is causing the problem. I'd have a chat with Richard the Farrier on this site to see what he recommends too. Best wishes HorseVet

could be greasey heel.....or mud fever....my mare came down with a couple years ago...it was very wet and muddy conditions around the corals..i soaked and cleaned her heels...with diluted betadine solution and epson salts every morning and night...worked like magic....i also put some magic powder on...after to try and prevent granulation - proud flesh setting in....was an easy fix.
