Hey thought i would share, i got my little pony in foal last summer and it is hilarious to see her get increasingly moody as the weeks go by. She has always been a moody and stubborn little pony, which is part of the reason i love her soo much, and the pregnancy has intensified it. she eats like some kind of deranged animal, she squeals at unwelcome guests, tries to bite the little children constantly and kicks out at my uncle (the man that feeds her lol) is it bad that i find this hilarious? shes generally a wee angel with me :P Does anyone else have any hormonal mare stories to share?

WOW! good luck with the foal, if she's anything like her mother :P lol (just a joke)
My mare is 24 and I still can't get near her when shes in heat!!!! She doesn't strike out or anything but shes is just plain crazy! I've tried many things but with her age, now I have just learned to let her be when that time comes around :P lol
Good luck :D |

My little mare was never hormonal, never knew when she was in season or anything. Now she has Cushings, which can affect either the pituitry or adrenal gland. She is on pergolide and has moody mare supplement, but her hormones are permanently in overdrive. If she gets excited she just won't calm down, she tried to kick Susie last week, which she has never done in her life, and I haven't been able to ride her since the cold weather arrived. She was always sharp when it was cold, now she is dangerous!I wish I could find something to help her, because I think If I could ride her regularly she would improve, but I just can't get started again. Where's the fun in permanently waiting for the explosion, which, when it happens, I can't stay on! |
