I wondered if you can help you lovely people , Millie is my 8 year old 16.2 Warmblood and excellent in a snaffle when doing flatwork , I recently did a jumping clinic using a two ring waterford as she can tend to charge towards the fence in eagerness !!the instructor thought that maybe the bit was a bit too strong for her as she was almost coming to a grinding halt when checking her before the jump. She can't stand too much poll pressure, I want to try and find a bit that would work on both cross country and showjumping , shes is strong but will listen, any suggestions greatly appreciated , so a Universal Gag and Pelham have been suggested , but I wonder if they are too harsh ! |

why not use a hanging cheek snaffle? you could use that for everything :) |

thought i would add on that if i were you i would persevere with the snaffle, a bit is not meant to win your horse in a battle of strength but communicate with them, maybe more half haults or poles before the jump or grid work would sort the problem |
