Some top British horses have been sold to rival teams before the Olympics. Do you think they should have bee sold? Could you resist the huge sums of money being offered? Have you or would you sell your horse if someone else spotted his talents and was willing to pay a lot of money for him? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/equestrian/16442105.stm |

Unfortunately, every horse I ever owned was worth less than I paid for them, so it's never been a problem for me personally lol Years ago my father had a half share in a very good racehorse, when the partnership was dissolved, he was offered a very large sum to sell his share, he was never tempted as he felt that this was his once in a lifetime horse. Show jumping along with the other equestrian sports are very expensive to fund and like all other professions there are times when your head has to rule your heart and if it meant that if I had to sell a horse to allow me to keep going, then I probably would do so. If money was no option then I wouldn't ( if only!!!!) |

Although very unlikely to happen with my pony, I certainly wouldn't sell him for any money but then I'm not competing in the Olympics and I have an emotional attachment to him.
I vowed I would keep mine for life and that's what I shall do...no pony deserves to be treated badly twice in their life. |

Gren isn't worth much in terms of what he can do, he is limited because of his issues, he is also a bugger to ride but to me he is worth his weight in gold and no amount of money could buy him from me, i think when you sell a horse it all comes down to emotional ties, if you love your horse to the point it hurts you will not be able to sell but if you spotted talent yourself and bought a horse with intention to sell on it is completely different to a horse you bought as a friend with the intention of keeping them for a very very long time :) |
