Hello, Im new to this so hopefully I do this right.
My gelding recently has been really foaming at the mouth during our riding even when I hardly work him. He is only 5 so I was worried it might be his teeth but im pretty sure he already got them done this 2011 year (At least that is what my mom says).
Second thing...
Lately there has been some patches in my horse where his fur has completly come off and you can see his skin. The biggest was the size of a quarter and we thought it was rainrot at first but I didn't think rainrot took off that much fur?
Thanks for the help. |

Hi Are you finding other issues that might suggest teeth? eg not wanting to take the contact, tilting his head, not wanting to turn in one direction? Unfortunately very few people who do teeth really know what they're doing and teeth should be done every 6 months. Not sure what hair loss is from - rubbing? He tilts his head but not often and sometimes he doesn't want to turn but I just figured that was the STB part of him not wanting to bend. I'll check when he was last done to make sure. Thankyou. And as for the hair loss would it help if I told you that it looked like it was peeling? It might just be from him being bit by other horses when playing? |

SSV my mares have a few marks from where my gelding bites them so it could be that. You're sure it's not ringworm? Have you got a close up photo? I really agree with HorseVet about the teeth. When I was an Equine Touch practitioner I found that a lot of horse's problems stemmed from their teeth and the owner often said, no it couldn't be that as they'd been done fairly recently. Do a lot of research to find a good equine dentist, it's one of the most important things you can do for your horse. Once the owners I mentioned did that, their horses other problems disappeared. Good luck and let us know what happens. |
