Hi I have a little cob who had an accident 3 month ago causing him to be badly lame on his hind leg .after 3 months of box rest which he found very hard because he is a very playful pony and loves being out.the vet has now told us that he can be on field rest for at least 3 months , so wondered if anyone has any techniques to keep him motivated which is not going to envolve him running around too much? Any advice from playing games in the arena or general new training techniques to help him enjoy and have a fun life would be much appreciated xxx |

play the parelli games with her! I'm sure they have sommething on their website on them! Or you can purchase the dvds... look up pat and linda parelli on google. I do them with my horse... they're fun and relationship building :) |

Teaching him various tricks to keep his brain engaged, perhaps things like a turnip on a string hung from the roof of his stable to keep him entertained while he's in there and it's not sugary and calorific like likits.
Alot of groundwork is super and really is a good way of bonding despite it being in not so great circumstances. Clicker training is definitely something I recommend, I use it for dogs and horses with great success and it's so fun and rewarding when you teach them something new. |

I've heard of clicker trained horses and think that'd be such fun!! The positive side of having a horse that's not able to be ridden is you can spend time on the ground with them really getting to know how they work as a horse. Sometimes just watching your horse may give you good ideas at what she might excell at in your groundwork exercises! |
