There is a beautiful mare at the barn I ride for who has, by some extreme misjudgment, been brought up in western pleasure, but shows excellent conformation and disposition for being a jumper. She is about six years old, 15'3hh. What is the best and safest way to start teaching her to jump?

Well first is she used to english tack? i would get her used to english tack on the flat first and get her going and then i would introduce pole work, then pole work with jump wings to get her used to the wings, then i would lunge over small jumps so she can work out for herself how to tackle it and get her stride. Then i would ride her over some small jumps and build up from there, baby steps at first but eventually you end up with a good jumper that hasn't been rushed :)
