Horses have played such an important role in world history, and although there have been many exhibits featuring horses in various museums and galleries, wouldn't it be great to have a permanent Museum of the Horse? What would you like to see on display there too? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2081543/British-Museum-takes-look-history-horse.html |

I think it's great that the British Museum are doing this Exhibition-about time too-and can't wait to see it. I do think though the horse deserves to have a permanent exhibition
in this country. They could combine parts of this exhibition with the War Horse one that's on at the moment. I'd also love something anatomical in it from that German guy-can't remember his name!!! You could have different riding simulators. Oh I could go on and on lol-it would be a good day out anyway!! |

Just think of the gift shop too! Lol it's really surprising that there isn't a permanent museum of the horse already, as the horse shaped the world we live in. Just think of all those dynasties that were created, without the horse history would have been very different! There would have to be a whole floor dedicated to the horse in war at least! I would love to see the early riding equipment, just to see how far( or not) we have come since the horse was first domesticated. I have always been fascinated to know how riding has developed from the very first(brave) person to jump on the back of a horse to modern equitation. :) |

In the U.S. there is a National Museum of the Horse at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. It is very exhaustive and popular here. |

Here's more evidence of how much wonderful information there is hidden away. The Blue Cross have just put their War Horse Collection online to coincide with the opening of the film- you can access it through this link. Well worth an online visit. http://www.bluecross.org.uk/95099/the-blue-crosss-war-horse-collection.html |
