hey :) right, i started jumping in October and this was filmed in at the start of November. Please can you state all the things I'm doing wrong and if poss could you give me advice to fix these things?? The pony I'm riding isnt the easiest, he was only a four year old and this was the highest he'd jumped with someone on his back. So yeah basically I'm asking for crit and advice:) Thankyou:)

Okay, the pony seems a little small for your height so you've ended up a little bunched up on top of him but there's nothing you can do to fix that! :D I think the main mistake you're making is throwing your weight forward too early and too much and bending too far forward. This was the reason for the near-fall at 1.41. By throwing your weight forward, you're making him heaving on the forehand, so he doesn't make the jump quite as well (like at 1.05) and you put him off balance. Instead of leaning so far forward, stay almost vertical and let the front of the horse come towards your chest. If you stay vertical, you are balanced and the horse can balance himself. The refusals could be caused by a number of different things. Other than that, you had a good positive approach x

with the throwing yourself forward thing, i saw this video once and it was saying that you need to pivot on top of your horse :) so somewhere btween your lower thigh and upper calf you must pivot. so you dont have to actually really lean forward because if you pivot it automatically helps you flow with the horse better therefore it is easier for the horse to jump the jump and should help your all over position to :) good luck!

Criticism. You look a little inexperienced. Advice: keep jumping and you will improve.… but yea if say you ahead of the motion or leaning forward too soon. But timing comes with experience. Just try and be still keep your feet forward knees bent hips at a slight angle and when the horse jumps let it come to you not you go to it.

KIBBY: I hope you dont mind me saying but the crit in your comment offended me, I have been riding for 8years and I am riding a 4yearold- I certianly am not inexperienced- though when it comes to jumping I have only just started so I would understand it in that context though to me it seems you havent made it clear what your talking about?..excuse my little rant x more crit and advice still welcome!!...Infact wanted xx

Make sure you are helping your pony out coming up to the jump by sitting up and driving him forward with your seat. Also, be careful that you are not coming down out of two-point too early. Keep it up! It only gets easier with practice. Soon it will feel like second nature. :)

I was talking about you jumping. Your riding is fine. You said yourself that you had only just started jumping. All I was saying is you look like just about every person who is learning how to to jump. Sorry that offended you.

Can't see that you should be offended by what Kibby said'you look a little bit inexperienced, advice-keep jumping', which implies she is talking about you being inexperienced with your jumping when you have just said that you had only been jumping for a month?! We shouldn't ask for criticism and then have a go at members when they give it especially when it is constructive.

Hi there! first off, CUTE pony! I liked your video and think you are doing a wonderful job learning- your legs don't swing much which is really good. I agree with sweet pea that he needs to be driven a little more to the jump with legs and seat. If you hold him with your hands and drive with your seat you will get a little better spot as your jumps get bigger and bigger, and will help you pick your spot better. One last thing, release your hands a little more up his neck over the jump, as when the horse lands it looks like your catching him in the mouth some. Constructive advice but your doing great! my one piece of advice (which really has nothing to do with your style sorry!) is that maybe next time try a tripod for videotaping? Its definitely beneficial to have someone on the ground, but you might be able to see what's going on with you better if you have a tripod set up to hold the camera, and just aim it at the jump. The only reason i suggest this is because i've taped a lot of greenies, and it just seems the best option when you want to see your movement, and your animals' better (taking away the movement of the camera). Hope this helps you in any way
