Cavaletti's and crossrails definitely! I swear by them both and they both really good training tools!!! also when you lunge, try to focus on getting your horse to really bend into the circle and allow for full flexion through the neck. I also do "horsey chiropractics". pick up a forehoof and pull it in front of them and stretch out the leg (muscles) and gently set it down after five or so seconds... pick up the hindhoofs and push up into the hip, then forward towards the front legs... firmly grasp the tail just below where the tail ends (make sure your only holding onto hair... NOT BONE!) and pull... hold for about 5 seconds. then grab the horses muzzle and pull them around so your standing at their shoulder. Whatever you do... do the same equally on the opposite side. The chiropractics will loosen up your horse before or after exercise and will allow them to warm up some muscles that may be difficult to warm up otherwise. Remember to always listen to your horse. She will always tell you if something's wrong!!
(I'm sure if you google, some better stuff may come up!!) |
