8 weeks ago my mare got sick and started coughing every now and then so we called the vet. He came out and gave us some drugs and she got better for 2 weeks but after we went to our royal show she started coughing worse and she had a large amount of nasal discharge. The vet came back again and said that she had caught another cold when her immune system was weak and that she was developing Bacterial Pneumonia. We followed the vetenery advise closely and still are to this day. I am just wondering if there is anything i can do to help her more? The nasal discharge has stopped and she only coughs on occasion also we were told that the Pneumonia could have permanently damaged here respiratory system meaning she will always cough. Is this possible?
