Some of you may have followed Trot ON member Megan Lewis on her Long Horse Ride, but for those of you who don't know about Megan, she's on an awe inspiring epic journey riding from one Olympic Games(Beijing in China) to London 2012 on horseback. Unfortunately Megan has got herself a big problem (which has developed since her last blog post in link) and needs some help! She has fallen foul of Ukrainian bureaucracy in a big way and without going into the whole story the bottom line is that if she cannot get the horses out of Hungary and in to Russia via Ukraine, they will have to be put down. Megan told us "there are now several people working hard to resolve the problem, including Dr Halazs here at the Hungarian border vet service and the International Equestrian Federation. If anyone out there has any suggestions or useful contacts, please let me know - I am trying to attack on all fronts." If you think you can help or know someone who can then please let us know here or send a note to Trot ON Comment. And if you can't do that please just send Megan some positive thoughts :)

Hi, I am in Hungary. If you are heading from China TO London, and are already in Hungary, please can I ask why you are trying to head 'the wrong way' into Ukraine & Russia? I want to try and help you, but don't really understand. If you can explain a little, I will try and do what I can. Thanks, K

OK, having read some information, I now understand - Hungary does now allow horses into the EU from your start-point. Now the Ukraine won't allow them back. I understand this. Has anyone contacted the Ministry in Budapest (presumably the State Vet on the border has done this). I really wish someone from Megan's team would contact me and explain a few things. I am here, offering to try and help, but without a contact from Megan's team, there is little I can do. My internet here is not very good, but if you can email me: kis-vihar@hotmail.com I will try and offer some help or support for you. K

Sorry Kis.....There are alot of things have happened at the same time and the situation is evolving fast ...I'll email you with the answers to the questions you raise later this morning ... We have put together the attached blog posting jointly with Megan which outlines the pertinent facts because the situation is not straight forward...basically the solution seems to rest with persuading the Ukrainian authorities to allow Megan passage back to Russia where she can secure a safe future for the horses. If anybody reading this has information or contacts that they think can help...support@troton.com will get the information to us immediately We will continue to update this topic with Megans's status and news as and when we get it- I last spoke to Megan on Friday and her spirits were good even if physically she was very cold! The ukraine/hungary at this time of year gets very cold - The various wheels that need to be turned are beginning to turn but the speed remains slow ...Yes the British Embassy are on the case and being as helpful as they can
