The Writing Horse, as ever, is going through the rock'nroll of the starting small equine company in these interesting times. After a very very VERY hot but rewarding creative Writing and Riding week in Centro Hipico Almanzora (remind me not to set any dates at the end of August!!) the venue needed a well-deserved make-over. So we abandoned further dates for courses until well into next year. Check www.writing-andalucia.com for dates, shortly to be announced.
Then, our main Lecturer, Emma, decided she needed the same and abandoned her Creative Writing PhD for a "career in Careers", becoming a full-time Careers Advisor. This makes it almost impossible for her to come out to teach our courses and she will be sorely missed!! Thanks, Emma, for all your hard work!
However, when one door closes...We found a most worthy replacement for Emma: Dr John Ballam, the Director of the University of Oxford Undergraduate Writing Programme, is taking her place in the new year. Dr Ballam has years of experience and loves horses and the heat of Andalucia as much as we do! Welcome, John!
We are teaming up with The Riding Company (also a member of Equinetourism) and FarandRide (a member as well) to spread our name and our courses among horse lovers and writers. You don't have to be both to love our courses!!
As always: singles welcome for no extra fees, non-writers and non-riders accepted for adjusted fees, but we have to stick to a maximum of 6 writers to give each delegate our full attention.
And, as always, we taylor the courses around you! So when you have a specific thing you would like to work on, we will try to accommodate that wish. Same with the riding: trekking, lessons or just some mucking about with horses, you tell us, we listen. And as always, the restaurant is awaiting you for cool drinks and hot Spanish food (www.centrohipico-almanzora.com). See you there!
