The oldies are the best! Try: The Wizard of Oz, Black Beauty (the movies is more sad so don't worry) And most awesome of all: THE CALL OF THE WILD!!!

Right i will list all the books i have read from when i was 11 to now... Half moon ranch (these are absolutely brilliant if you can get hold of them) by jenny oldfield, the black stallion by walter farley, war horse, hearltand series, sheltie series, chestnut hill by lauren brooke (series), i also have black beauty, THE LITTLE WHITE HORSE is the best book ever for any age from teens to adults! It is so special it is in capitals lol it is by elizabeth gouge. Also the saddle club books were alot better than the TV series, i also have my secret unicorn series from when i was in primary school! That was one of the first series i read when i was 10 or 11. The pony whisperer is also a very good series for teenagers by janet rising, so is sandy lane stables series by michelle bates. A really old book i have that my grandma had when she was young is 'this pony is dangerous' by diana pullien-thompson but im not sure if you can still get this, i also used to love the seahorse series by louise cooper, the 'mustang mountain' series by sharon siamon and spellhorn by berlie doherty, i also have the pony club secrets books that have already been mentioned! To be honest as a child (and still now!) i collected books like no tomorrow, i absolutely love books and my whole book collection is horses and mystical beings, basically my room is full of horsey teenagers dream books lol as you can probably tell!

OK guys, I'm an expert here. Read ANYTHING by KM Peyton. Best horsey books ever. I particularly recommend the Flambards series, Fly By Night, The Team, and the Swallow Summer books. Ambitious teens should try Jane Smiley's book Horse Heaven, which is about racing, but genuinely heavenly (I'm not that interested in racing, but loved it). Ruby Ferguson books are also brilliant -- Jill's Gymkhana series is perfect. Have a look at this website, which will keep you busy for the rest of your life. http://www.janebadgerbooks.co.uk And if you get really desperate, you can try The Bride's Farewell, which is a bit more literary than some, and of course I would recommend it as I wrote it. But shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal so someone else liked it too.
