ok well recently nutmeg my pony has been getting these random bald patches. they are always near her bum and the first 2 patches were right beside her tail. they were about 3cm long and 5 wide i think. i thought nothing of it because i thought it was just her tail swishing that had caused it but then the other day she got a rather big bald patch on the inside of her hind leg around her hock. it was about 15cm long and 8cm wide. and also the other day i spotted a little circle of baldness on her back leg. i have no idea why this is happening and i thought i better get some advice. i will try posting a photo soon though. the bald patches have no red marks or anything it is just bare skin. any ideas on what is causing it?? |

Well it could be that she is rubbing because she is ithcy in which case i would try a anti-tch cream of some kind, or it could be an allergy to something in the field, grenville is really odd and needs to be rugged in a fly rug at all times in hot weather or a waterproof rug in the colder months because he gets bald patches and it has something to do with the grass seeding and it makes his hair fall out in small patches, he still gets small ones on his legs because i can't rug these areas up so it could be something similar that is going on with nutmeg? |

Oh it could also be ringworm if she has been in contact with a person or animal that had it, if it is ringworm it is easily treated, i have had it before :\ was itchy but soon cleared up with some cream so if your in doubt get the vet :) |
