Okay, you can get her used to the saddle first, and do some ground work with the saddle on. Then you can actually get on, slowly at first. Just sit calmly for a second then squeeze and ask the horse to walk and for the first time just walk and do circles every now andthen and don't go too long for the first time, just like 20 minutes or so. Then work your way up from there. |

Before you even put an actual saddle on her back, I would suggest for you to introduce just the saddle padding first. Show it to her, and gently rub it back and forth on her back side so that she get's used to that feel first. Then you can gradually add a little pressure with just your upper body a couple of times before you are confident that she feels comfortable enough with that first. Then you can begin with the saddle. Let her get used to it by letting her walk around with it on her back for 5-10 mins daily until you are sure that she doesn't show any signs of discomfort. After that is over with, begin with the next steps. Its just a matter of time, patience, and loads of rewards before she'll be nicely broken for you =) Check out some videos on youtube, they can be very helpful. Good luck! |

Thank you for replying. She is now saddle broken. She got her first ride sunday and she never bucked once. She never even bucked when I cinched up the saddle.
