I don't own a horse of my own, so I have been riding school ponies for about two years now. A few months back, one of these ponies bolted for no apprent reason. I couldn't stop him and he bucked me off. The next time I rode him, the same thing happened. I've ridden different ponies since then, but I recently quit the riding school because I just couldn't motivate myself to ride anymore. I don't want to quit, I love horses and I love riding. I just don't know what to do about this anymore. Any advice would be greatly appreciated =) Thanks, Kami xx

Hi Kaminari, This is exactly what happened to me, I gave up for a few years, and went showing miniature horses which taught me to read the horse from the ground and then finally went back to riding. Have you spoken to the riding school owners about this, they might be able to help you figure out why it did it? Were you heading home? Was the pony racing towards others? Sounds like you need to be taught ways to stop a bolting pony. For example if your horse isnt listening to the bit has anyone spoke to you about pulling them in a circle? (ensure someone teaches u this rather than do try it yourself) Its a safety thing to be taught how to put yourself into a safe and steady position and how to ride out a buck. But please remember these are animals with their own brains, you can train as much as you like but sometimes they have bad days or something has upset them just like us. Dont give up on your dream just look at this as a learning experience

Thanks so much for this, I'll be sure to contact the school. Showing miniature horses sounds so fun! I have a friend who takes on horses who can sometimes be a bit 'naughty' so I think it might be a good idea to ask her too. Thanks again, Kami xx
