Well the past few weeks have been... Odd. I have fell out with 2 people at the yard recently for different reasons but then last week my stirrups were taken out of my locked tackroom and put in my stable so i was like eh? And other strange small things happened through the week and then today i went to lunge grenville and i picked up the lunge crop and he panicked! He he bronced, reared up, nearly flipped over and tried to bolt, it took alot of energy to calm him down, he was soooo scared. So i took everything off him tack and headcollar and approached with the stick again and he freaked again, it took alot of join up and desensitisation to get him to let me rub him with it all over (took around an hour) now i don't know whether i am being paranoid or something but something just seems... Wrong... He hasn't been scared of whips in over 2 years and it seems odd its happening now with everything else that has happened. What do others think? Am i being paranoid? lol it wouldn't be the first time! |

He is certainly trying to tell you something. Can you remember last time you used it, did something happen at all to scare him in anyway or was there anything different? If not it does seem that something may have happened that you are not aware of, involving him and a whip. |

Yeah the last time i used it i was teaching him to spanish walk and he loved it... It meant lots of food lmao. And there was nothing different about it this time which was what made it so odd, it was like he went from calm to exploding in the couple of seconds it took me to pick the whip up :S, it could have been kids in the field messing about with sticks or anything really but he was really scared, i did a bit more with him today with sticks and he seems pretty ok with me touching him with a stick after the episodes yesterday :\ it was just really out of character, i have mentioned it to everyone so everyone is keeping an eye out for anything out of the norm in the field |

Oh good, its not only here in Australia that we get similar crap for other people and the horse cops it. Stupid humans (Not you!! the people who have messed with Gren)they say they LOVE horses and then to set that horse up to friggin fail like that, Gren is LUCKY to have someone who knows how to bring him back to not being afraid of the whip but can you imagine if you were only beginning!? STUPID HUMANS!! Sorry that just makes me outraged!! See when we left our old agistment we all thought Bazz had something done to him but there was nothing that we could say to prove it to others, just our knowledge on our horse and his behaviour. Has anything else occurred since this?? Now that I'm replying quite late. |

It was really sad to see, it was like old wreck grenville was back, his eyes had not looked at my in that way for 3 years! I am glad i learned join up and he trusted me enough to let me sort him out again to stop him being scared and after i asked about nothing quite as severe has happen but little things keep happening like my stable or tackroom door being wide open or grenville will be head shy some days (he used to be really really head shy when i got him you needed a step ladder to get his bit in) and again this has been solved well over 2 years near the 3 year mark then all of a sudden he becomes head shy again... Something odd is going on, i will find out what it is though, no one messes with my horse lol |

Is there anywhere you can discreetly set up a video camera? Even where your locker is or something. If you can, you'll have explanations for a lot of things. I don't know what to suggest if you can't. :/ |

Agree on the camera idea. Might be hard to set up but at least you can see for yourself what is going on? I understand that you also have alot of stuff going on in yor personal life with family illness etc. You don't need to be dealing with this too. People are so mean! Gren is a sensitive boy who is lucky to have you as his human. Keep strong and give him my love. |

I have nowhere in my stable to plug a camera in and a battery wouldn't last long, we do have CCTV on our drive to the yard but not on the actual yard cos they cost alot to install and it really is the last thing i need lol i go down to have a chill out with grenville and tell him about my troubles and then i don't get chance cos i am running round trying to find things or figure something out but aslong as grenville doesn't get affected by it again i try not to worry bout it too much and i will give him a big hug from you, he may or may not apreciate it depending on how cuddly he is feeling hahaha |

You can get motion sensor cameras which have pretty good battery life as they only record when something is moving. Im thinking of putting one up to keep an eye an one of my mares who has some minor neurological issues, I want to see what's happening at night with her. Im stalling because she lives out & Im not sure how close the movement has to be but if Grenville is in a stable then that shouldnt matter. Im in Australia but Im sure there'd be something similar in the UK.... I hope things settle for you soon xx |
