I was in the warm up ring for a showjumping competition when I heard a yell from the main arena. A girl on a pony had tried to jump the entrance gate (It's over 5 feet high) and failed. Fortunately neither were hurt.
"At least that wont happen to us, baby" I said to my girl.
I jinxed us.
In the arena we approached a double that faced the entrance gate. As soon as we squared up to it I was blinded and so was Sassy. The sun was coming straight through the doors and there just happened to be 5 perfect strides between the last part of the double and the gate.
We jumped it and the people leaning on it, landed on solid concrete and then Sas was off into the car park!
The official came up to was (once I had convinced her to stop) and said:
"I have good news and bad news. The bad news is, you're eliminated. The good news is that you are the first person ever to jump the Kenwick arena wall."
We still hold the record today :)

Wish someone had got me on camera the other day out hunting, my horse slipped and nearly fell on a corner throwing me right out of the saddle. The people who saw it were still talking about it days later, they couldn't believe I got myself back in the saddle and stayed on, especially as we were going pretty fast. Was it the thought of hitting the ground at the gallop or the fact I'd have to give a fiver to the hunt's tumblers club if I came off-both good reasons to sit TIGHT!!
