The Dublin Show has kicked off and one of the mane attractions was a Wyoming cowboy who came to demonstrate the attributes of the much maligned mule and took his life in his hands when he told the crowd "They are more intelligent than a horse. It is a proven fact that a mule is much more intelligent, and that is the point and the fact that a lot of people in the equestrian world don't want to deal with that." Brave man!!! (Click the link to read more.) I've had no experience of mules at all although I did meet an American guy out hunting on Exmoor a few years back and was pretty gob smacked when he told me that back home he hunted on a mule and said it was fantastic!! Has anyone ever ridden one or know much about them?

I'm hoping that someone like H&C TV will be covering the reality TV comptition, America's Favourite Trail Horse-an American Idol type programme for equestrians. A few mules made the finals, proving mules ain't no joke-the article is worth a read :)

i like mules and hinnys etc but i don't think it is right... like zorses and ligers, it just doesn't seem right, i mean donkeys and horses were never made to mix together, if they were then they wouldn't produce infertile offspring, i think these crosses are cute but really is it right? i know its not cruel but its just not right... i dunno lol

I LOVE MULES and now I know they come in chestnut I am sold! Victor from next door came visiting a while back, through the fence and across the creek - he was sooo chilled and I led him home in just Sienna's rope halter over the wooden bridge and all with no probs. I believe mules are GREAT trail mounts as they are strong, hardy and surefooted without being as spooky/likely to flee as horses and apparently they can jump too :)
