i live in well it has been crowned the worst place to live in england on that programme 10 worst and best places to live :\ recently the show 'come dine with me' was here and i knew 2 people on it and on one night the tyres to the camera van got slashed while they were in the house :| we also have a few bomb scares every year and there seems to be a 'culture fight' at every festival here and a boy i knew was murdered about a month ago :( my grandad goes to church with his father but what keeps me sane is the fact in every community, here or abroad, there are good and bad people and the good always out weigh the bad, i remember when i was really small (i was brought up on a council estate) i woke up to here a man screaming in the flats behind our house we called the police but he was found beaten within a inch of his life, and at primary school i remember we had to stay back and weren't allowed home because some crazy man had done something to the gas on my row of houses and me only being a kid really wanted to go to my horse riding lesson haha but even in such a crappy area i still loved most of my neighbours, about 80% of the people there were good people and that is what you have to remember :) i just try and avoid the trouble now and we moved 5 years ago so its alot quieter where i live now

I'm sorry that the Marching Season is no better. Its a very difficult time in the Province. Here in England we have nothing to compare it to, it really is a time of madness out there. The troubles never seem to completely die. I really hope you don't get caught up in it.

It really is such a shame, because it is a beautiful country, jus for a few days people act soo stupid. The rioting on the 9th was actualy because police removed a couple of uda flags from in front of a chapel after the public had complained about it =/ they need to grow up, talk about temper tantrum! Tonight thankfully appears calm, bonfires are all lit, carrickfergus and belfast are now under a blanket of smoke and I can hear a helicopter. Hopefully below is a pic of the tip of a bonfire about half a mile away down the hill.

So sorry things have gone downhill in Northern Ireland ToriSilverson :( It must be really scary and depressing. I'm sure the majority want peace but as usual it's the few who want to be make trouble and be 'big men' again. And you're right, it is a beautiful country-people need to look at what they have and not what they don't have. I find the countryside and nature around me is always enriching :)

I've realised today is 12th July and no doubt the Orange men will be marching to celebrate King Billy's victory over the catholic king. This is the day when fighting is likely to break out when these marches insist on going through none Orange areas. I am interested to know who are these people in paramilities, in NI do you have a new generation willing not to learn from the peace movement but want to re-start the old Troubles? Tori you are in my thoughts and I hope you are somewhere safe away from the madness.

it is mostly teenagers that are involved in the rioting, they clearly just want an excuse to be violent. thankfully where i live was relatively quiet and calm last night and is quiet today but belfast certainly wasnt. in one report i read that a hoax call was made to the ambulance service and the responding ambulance was attacked on arrival =/ its just disgusting. i hav a link to the report that best sums up last nights trouble in belfast below. i have stayed well clear of it, had a duvet day yesterday with my boyfriend and spent today at the yard with my beastie :)
