Saturday June 18th is National Equine Touch Day in Great Britain and Ireland so if you want to find out why I think it's such a fantastic form of bodywork for horses, contact the co-ordinator in your area (see link below) and book a free session with an ET practitioner or student. The intention is not only to raise public awareness of ET but to 'give the gift' to 1000 horses in a day :D

Kibby, click on the link below and scroll to the bottom of the page to find out about Equine Touch in Australia. If anyone is interested there are instructors and practitioners in lots of different countries and you'll find the relevant websites through this link. Jess, yes there are a few horses who don't like it but I used to do the TB's in a big race yard and most of them really loved it and I found it very rewarding to give them something that relaxed them and released their tensions-sometimes it could be quite moving. A good practitioner knows what is right for each individual horse, some like a firmer or a lighter touch, some like you to give them time to process and others prefer you to keep flowing without breaks. To be honest I often found the owners emotions more difficult to deal with than the horses!! But if anyone wants to learn to do it for their own horses, I can't recommend level one enough, as it gives you the basic body balance which really is the basis of all our work. :D

looks really good, ive never seen it being done before although seeing reiki, shiatsu and acupuncture I would fully believe the effect equine touch has. I have seen horses that 'hate' to be touched just seemingly go into a trance with such therapies. I expect you will have a busy day Flicka, hope you have lots of successful ET sessions today!

Oh i think it is great lol it has worked wonders on my friends ex racer TB but grenville just hates strangers touching him even familiar people get the really grumpy side to him, he isn't mean just uncomfortable with being touched but i can touch him all over his body how i like and he is all too happy to chill while i give him a good scratch but this is the reason i doubt he would enjoy it he would probably just get more and more uncomfortable :\ he is a strange one lol

My horse 'Texas' really benefitted from this therapy. He was an ex eventer then hunter with lots of wear and tear but I watched him fall asleep and he definitely was more relaxed ,looser and happier ridden when he started receiving regular treatments.I also use some of the touches I was shown on my horses now and does us all good, relaxed and good bonding sessions..try it..your horse will thank you for it :-)
