Do you find that a lot of drivers drive way too fast past you when you're out hacking? Do you have to constantly calm your horse after a sports car comes speeding by? Does it make you angry how careless people are about the safety of your horse as they speed by? Now's your chance to make a difference and liek this causes page on facebook. Sorry- forgot to post the link haha.
Also what do people think of wearing hi-vis? We are advised to wear hi-vis even in daytime so that we can be seen. Is it really necessary? Do you wear hi-vis and if so- when?

I also read this thing on road safety by the BHS asking people to please wear hi-viz and then drivers will see you 3 seconds sooner. http://www.bedmaxshavings.com/detail.php?lang=en&s=25&c=238 |

I didn't use to wear high viz but do now, I think it's only sensible- if the traffic sees you a few secs earlier, so much the better, & it does seem to have an effect on most drivers, & make them respect the horse & rider more. |

Im know as the lady in pink where i live.
i where pink hi viz.my horse is like a beacon, pinkleg wraps pink tail guard, pink breast strap.
Any thing that makes me more visible to motorists, or anyone else for that matter is helping to keep me that bit more safe. |

i don't wear hi viz unless the vizibility is low but in that case i would stay off the roads so i own one item of hiv viz which is a flashing vest also where i live most people are very respective of horses on the road and only a few will fly past like nutters but luckily grenville couldn't care less lol they can come as close as the want as fast as they want and grenville never falters :) |

We always wear hi vis now , I didnt used to but I really think that in these days where people are driving bigger cars & have so much more to distract them , Hi vis gear is an essential safety riding item.Drivers notice you quicker & slow down more.We have to cross a high bridge over the dual carriageway & we find that even the motorway traffic can see us & any emergency services will cut their sirens when passing under us.

I love the cossacks high viz for horse and rider. That along with Dazzle's L plate idea really floats my (horse) boat :)
I wear a bright orange workvest over my top whenever I ride OR lead on the road. I cannot control what drivers do on the road but I feel that I can at least make sure they see me.
