I do hate this compensation claim culture and the companies that push people to make them with ads on the TV and now txts to your mobile phone offering to get you money if you've had an accident. Now I do understand that if someone is seriously injured then they are going to need some money to replace loss of earnings and pay for care etc. But I wonder how anyone has the nerve nowadays to allow another person anywhere near one of their horses for fear of the consequences. What do you think about health & Safety and compensation claims-are they good or bad for the equine industry? And how does it affect you?

I agree with you Flicka, the compensation claim thing is a real worry and is very good for the insurance industry. Everyone is forced now to have liability insurance. I have a livery yard and one of my owners decided she needed something up high and instead of using steps she used a ladder and fell. Hospital! A few weeks later she mentioned that someone had asked her if she had sued us. What a cheek! She said she was mortified at the suggestion but the hint was there.
