I just found this clip on youtube. Made me really sad how frightened all the horses got and how it all got out of control. What would you do if your horse was in that position? That horse may never want to drive a cart again because of the trauma. What are other people's views and thoughts on this video? Could they have done more about it/to stop it? Who's fault was it?

Pesonally i don't like driving, yes i don't mind when they are driving for a purpose but this irritates me for some reason, to me it is dangerous for the horse like when that horse fell over whilst harnessed up. It is always the person to blame never the horse but the driver was only human and began to panic, i would have not yanked and pulled against the horse with all my weight as he did (this only scared the horse more) i would have released slightly and spoke in a low voice woah or walking and turned a circle on the inside of the other horses gradually bringing the circle smaller until it stopped or slowed enough to get out and get hold of its head and i certainly wouldn't have ran at a animal stricken wit panic :\ i mean that is just common sense, i would have got every other horse out asap or atleast unharnessed them and then approached as slowly as possible and soothed the frightened horse not stand in its path (getting ran down like the man in the white shirt) or waved in its face or ran at it! I think it couldn't be prevented in the sense that the first horse WAS going to play up if it wished but the driver could have handled it much better and so could everyong in the ring and i don't know why there was people still sat down outside the fenced area? one person sat there got ran over by the loose horse. Man that's chaos

JessAndGrenville123 I agree about the way the situation was handled. In my opinion it was completely the fault of the people and more care should have been taken. I don't really agree with driving this way either. It is so much more risky to take a horse into a driving class than a ridden or in hand one because driving can get out of hand like this and then very dangerous. If this had happened during an in hand class, the horses would have simply run around a bit and just got excited. The trauma that was caused here is so extreme I just don't know how people can take the risk. I drive my pony but I would never dream of taking her to a show because I would be too worried something would happen and she'd get hurt. It is really shocking.

ehhh i blame it on the sport. Knowing those are all morgans... and they're high strung as it is... added with the possibility of poor training... it was destined to happen. I'm not a fan of it either... just watching that horse gallop with that cart behind it... what if it got a leg caught and broke something and had to be put down. I'd say keep driving for purpose and at a walk. only trot if your horse is very experienced!
