CCTV footage has been released of a man trying to board a train with his pony in Wales which he wasn't allowed to do and the RSPCA said it wasn't a 'safe or acceptable way' to transport an equine. But years ago it was a normal sight as trains had an extra carriage on trains for transporting horses. However they weren't expected to sit with the passengers lol.

Yes, my mother in law remembers it too. I think in one of my favourite books Memoirs of a foxhunting man, I'm sure he takes his horse on the train. I suppose when they used to have more lines here in England, they closed a lot with the Beeching Cuts, you would have had more access from smaller villages. Would be much more eco-friendly wouldn't it, to be able to hop on a train to go to a show, or hunting :)

The same man then tried to take his pregnant mare to A&E for a scan because a youth had thrown a beercan at her and then for a pint. In the article there's a bit more about him. Some people are accusing him of being cruel. What do you think? Personally I don't agree with his choice of pub lol. Does the fact that he's a traveller colour your viewpoint? Discussing the train incident, I was told that in Essex they used to load horses from the Colchester Barracks onto the train and bring them to Maldon to go hunting. I'd love to hear if anyone in your area remembers horses travelling by train:)
