I have just come across a blog post about the importance of breathing whilst riding a nervous horse or equally if you are a nervous rider. I am sure I have heard advice on here before about singing whilst riding to boost confidence, although hadn't really considered singing would mean that you cannot tense up nor hold your breath through fear. The post is just one persons experience, they say you should also breath in sync with the horses movement. I have never noticed my breathing whilst riding, but it is interesting what is mentioned. Does anyone else have any opinions on this, do you sing when you ride if you feel nervous? |

I recite ballads of australian horsemanship to Sienna when riding out if she seems to be feeling anxious or distracted. Sometimes it is one poem one time and others it is several poems, several times. It seems to regulate my breathing and calm her down. |
