Thought it may be of interest, my pony came in from the field yesterday very swollen by her cheeks down to her jaw and we were worried she had Strangles although she looked in perfect health. Vet checked her today and we were relieved to find out that her glands were swollen due to her gorging on the new grass shoots coming through. Was very surprised that she had this problem so early on in the year, but shows that what may seem like Strangles can also be "grass" glands, although it's always best to get this checked out. |
