The showing season if coming up, and now that I've finally got my pony doing his leads correctly (everywhere but the championships at fair), I need to work on his head set. But every time i get it nice, and release pressure (which is hardly there anyways), his head snaps back up above his withers. Any ideas??

Hi, it sounds like he's balancing himself on your hand and still needs to find self carriage. In dressage training and some tests you have to give your hand forward to prove that your horse can carry himself. Does he do it in all gaits? Also how is his back and saddle fit? When his head goes up, he hollows his back? How old is he? Have you used any gadgets? Sorry, lots of questions, but it helps to build a picture of what's going on.

When his head goes up, add pressure, as soon as he lowers his head, let go of the pressure, this will teach him that it is more comfortable to keep his head down.
