sorry to hear about your friends horse, must have been a nasty shock for her, it cauld have been a heart attack, how old was she.? I lost one of mine 4 years ago from a heart attack, I was ridingher at the time & she was her normal silly self, fit & healthy, it was over very quick & I cauldnt believe it but my vet said thats what happens, you very rarely get any warning. this photo was taken of her a week before she died. x

Chrissie so sad for your horse and scary. I remember a riding school pony had a heart attack in his field overnight. He had got his head stuck in the railing (normal post and rail) trying to get to the grass and must have panicked as he suffered a heart attack and died. He wasnt very old and being a riding school pony was fit. |

Hey Chrissy so sorry to hear about your horse, but unfortunatly this horse was only 8 so still quite young, dont know what could have caused the heart attack she was tucked up safely in the stable :/ , i never thought to ask but i turned out my friends horse wasnt insured so she cant aford the tests :( so i will never really know what killed this amazing horse. |

A girl's horse at my yard died in its stable overnight about a year ago. They did Post mortum on it but couldnt find a cause of death. Heart wasnt enlarged but they suspected a heart attack as there was no signs of a struggle in his box just blood from his nose when he was found. It was as if he just dropped down dead.
Was really hard for her as she didnt really get any answers. We had another horse that was found dead in the field last summer (he'd been playing with the others an hr earlier) and that PM showed a grossly enlarged heart and he was only 5yrs old. Scarey stuff. |

thats horrible to hear! could have been colic, heart problems, if there was blood from the nose he could have hit his head on something, maybe the horse was anemic( iron deficient), eaten some sort of rat poison, it could have been a number of things!!! i hope the results come back! |
