I would suggest the same to you I suggested to flicka. I always try and do at least one redwings adoption a year at christmas, firstly you get to help the charity and secondly the pack you get it great (and you can do online ones now too) and it makes the person you give it to feel like they're helping too! It's really easy to do... once you have choosen who it is you want to adopt! There are quite a few from the different centres round the country and all the centres have open days where people can meet all the horses too, so a Christmas gift can turn into a day out too! http://www.redwings.org.uk/categories/adoption-club-residents

Yes and thanks for that tweek it's a brilliant idea. I've adopted a pony for my best friends little girl as a xmas pressie but she's told her already and said that she is really excited about it. I chose a centre that is close to where they live so that they can visit too. You can also adopt an Exmoor pony from the moorland and mousie rescue centre. http://www.moorlandmousietrust.org.uk/AdoptaPony.htm

Another idea is to treat your horse or best friends horse to a bodywork of some sort. Maybe Equine Touch (ha ha, not trying to tout for business-I'm looking forward to a lazy xmas in front of the telly!!) Shiatsu, McTimmoney, Reiki, animal aromatics, Kinesiology-whiskers on kittens etc-just a few of my favourite things!!! Or of course get someone to buy you a lesson with a trainer who you really admire-got an idea for myself on that one-or learn about groundwork and lots of other things beneficial to your horse on a Horse Listening course which I've been really enjoying recently and are pretty reasonably priced! !Mmm I'm really suggesting things that I would like!! http://www.horse-listening.co.uk/index.html

Just been posting in side saddle group and that made me think-now that would be a good one to add to my xmas pressie list- a side saddle lesson!!

Oh, sorry to go on but I just remembered last xmas I did actually buy my husband a jumping lesson on Farlow because his jumping had got a bit sticky. I can't say it went down too well at the time-the last lesson he'd had was at pony club and Farlow has an aversion to coloured poles and menages!!!! But luckily the trainer I'd chosen, Jonathan Allinson provided a good lesson with some clever exercises and a big helping of humour. I hadn't seen Fart jump so well for a long time and Jeremy left the arena with a big smile on his face-phew!!!

Nice and safe - try a carriage driving lesson? Er, anyone can learn in a short session - great for non-driving friends, horsey or otherwise. Or go out for lunch in a carriage?
Or dvds, books, cds and similar stocking fillers for all ages at www.oldpond.com
I think they're especially good for rural life memorabilia - land girls, working with heavy horses and loads more - mega-trucks, tractors, poultry, horses, sheep, goats. And not too expensive. Keeps me quiet for hours!

Just like Sophie, I've had a similar idea, there's this really cool website called vistaprint.com You can make calendars of all your beautiful horse photos, you can make t-shirts and funny captions, coffee mugs, mousepads, the list goes on and on and it's all personalised! Even pen sets. I love the comical Christmas Cards, you can turn yourself into a cartoon character and your animals, you can make the whole family. I've made one and of course I'm wearing a crown! LOL! Don't like my hair butttttt! :( The horses come in all different colours and you can put the animals names to match. I just love it! If you get a chance pop in, it's fun!
