Well basically, last xmas, i had a fall where i broke my rib due to a tryout for a loan horse who was very very overweight and had been ridden before i got there for half an hour in the school!!! so when i got on him, he started bucking me off even though i felt very confident and probably the most confident i had been. i fell off and broke my rib. it wasn't really the fall that i was afraid of and wasn't really the pain afterwards either.... it was the bucking that i hated and i just had no control what so ever, i have multiple joint problems which when i fall off means i will injure myself extreamly easily so i do have to be very careful now and i cannot ride stocky cobs anymore as my hips cannot take it. I have gotton miles better and a pony i ride has been fantastic! All the horses at my riding school do not buck but all during my lesson i always thinking oh my god is he gonna buck aaghh!! help me please as its been over a year and i still havn't properly got my confidence back and i can't really ride a strange or difficult horse anymore as i'm just too scared. i am absolutly fine with horses on the ground and i can do most horses it's riding!! help!xx

I know what you mean! You feel fine around horses but when you get on them sometimes you get nervous when you ride right? Ok well I have Some advice
1. Think positive- Horses can sense fear (I know creepy right!)
2. Do some training to solve the bucking problem
3. TRUST your horse- I STRONGLY suggest "Join Up" I think you probably know what it is but just in case Ill post a vid if it
4. Don't let this hold you down. Say in a mirror "I'm NOT scared. I can ride! I'm an awesome rider with an awesome horse!"
Hope I helped. Contact me if you want!

Thank you very much.... yeah i know what join up is and i am DESPERATE to have a go at it!! i rekon it would be soooo good! i rememebr seeing it when that Martin Clunes programme on horses was on i dunno if you watched it or not?? It's funny because the horses at my stables.... well none of them do buck....or do anything nasty as they are riding school horses! i know they dont do anything but i still couldnt help feeling like maybe they may do something. i hsve gotton a lot better AND i have done some more jumping recently (havnt done it very long) and i have ridden a big chestnut ex show jumper and was brilliant where some people who have been riding longer than me and more often could hardly get him to move and just refused to do any jumping! i was pretty happy as i know him quite well and no one likes to do him as he's a big 16.2hh and (aparantly he's 'boring' lol but i love boring as its safe to me)anyway he bits a lot wen he's sometimes in a good maybe bad mood and doesn't like too much fuss or excitment from the younger ones and can kick wen they are in the wrong place behind him walking but i think he likes me and doesn't mind my company as he usually has his ears forward for me and i almost understand him sooo all good in that respect. i felt very happy after i had jumped him but even wen he was jumping i culdnt help think omg what if he throws mini bucks in!! :O lol i rekon i need a change of attitude towards horse behaviour and maybe need to have a lesson in why they buck and the signs etc..... actually thats given me an idea! i will look up bucking and stuff lol xx thank you very much for your reply and sorry i have now written you an essay to read ... (dont worry if its too long to read(i babble and rant on a bit lol).)

I've always had confidence from horses. but, im not sure what could help you. all i can suggest, is try mounted games. Fast but fun sports on fast ponies. Youtube it, or google it. or look on my website. Having the confidence to vault onto a movingg horse, and jump off, touch the floor. etc.
I know alot of people suggest join up, blah blah lol, i do believe strongly in these methods, but it doesn't help riders much. especially if they dont have much confidence anyway its tough to chase a horse away. So, all i can say is try a challenging sport maybe even try vaulting. Its not much, but it helps.
Keep me updated how you get on! and ask if you need any help there. I'd love to help :)
Inbox me how you get on please!! xx http://www.jhollingmodesequestrian.webs.com
