I know what you mean! I was riding a shire one day in the woods. It was all going great until my friend's horse bolted and we were galloping through the woods. I fell off and landed on my arm (Which I had JUST gotten of of a cast) and I was POSITIVE that my arm would be broken. I guess God wanted to be kind to me and my arm and ribs (the skin covering them) was REALLY bruised, but for the most part I wasn't broken. I was HORRIFIED!! Not kidding. I used to be a 100% PERFECT rider, No fears of ANYTHING! Then I felt like my world came tumbling down. I was so scared. I probably wouldn't have ridden again - and let me tell you that would have been a SHAME because riding IS my life- was the fact that my friends and I had plans to ride again the next day. I really did NOT want to, but there I was the next day on the mounting block. I took it SLOW! Do NOT st jump right into jumping again. BUT on that note, don't be too afraid to move on. "Falls make us better". Its true. Don't be stuck on that fall. Was it your first fall? If so, I know, its TERRIBLE! You just feel like you want to die. Its so scary, but think that MILLIONS of riders fall. Beezie Madden, Edward Gal, the greatest riders (in my opinion) have fallen, BUT what if they stopped? Look at what they did! I have fallen after the accident with the shire, and it is 10000% times less scary the 2ed, 3ed, 4th, ect, time. All I can say is take it nice and slow. Don't ride alone at first. Getting back on is the most important part.
Hope I helped!!!!!!!!!
OH! Also, If you have a FaceBook, look up :"Horseback Riding Fears by Jane Savoie" -- I'm NOT lying, she is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

Lets be sensible about this. Seven weeks is not long when you've had a back injury. On top of that you lost your horse!. If you were doing aPC exam you are not a beginner, you are not a bad rider, you just need to give yourself time to get over this. Don't worry about riding, about getting back on right now, just go to the stables and see your other horses. You are lucky to have others to help you get through this. Go and groom, tidy their manes, love and cuddle them, they will make you feel better. Soon you will want to get back on, but don't rush. Go hacking, even take one of the gees for a walk in hand. You don't have to jump, theres so much else you could do. No-one will think any less of you for not jumping for as long as it takes. Look at it logically, you were jumping when it happened, so the rest of it needn't be scary. Do go and see your horses, I'm sure they miss you! |
