Don't worry shock wave therapy doesn't mean putting a thousand volts through your horse as it uses acoustic pressure waves rather than electricity! Sounds like it can be quite effective with soft tissue and bone problems so worth a read. http://americashorsedaily.com/shockingly-effective-part-1/ |

I had this treatment done on my mare Polly. It seemed to speed up recovery of her ligament strain/injury. She quite liked the attention! |

we used it on grenville to try and avoid surgery for his kissing spine, it worked for about 6 months but then wore off so i am not actually that sure if it is as affective as people say, it also failed with my friends mares injured pelvis and my other friends horse when he damaged his leg. |

I'm not a fan of shockwave. It's a bit like an energetic blister and horses are often sedated for it because it can be painful. It works on the basis that bringing further disruption to an area that is already damaged encourages the body to speed healing. In my opinion there are better and more gentle ways of increasing healing.
Best wishes
