He made it seem so simple and I picked up a few pointers. I do think Monty has probably refined his methods slightly though which any good horsemen should. I'm sure he'd be the first to say that the person who thinks they know it all is the most stupid person around lol!

Okay, I'm really confused now. On Horse Power, I'm sure he told Martin after he'd driven it away to walk up to it, stare it in the eye, and then walk away and the horse would follow. I always thought you didn't look the horse in the eye and let it walk up to you while you weren't facing it. I decided to YouTube it, and I found this clip which verifies my original thought. Is Monty teaching a new method or have I misunderstood what he told Martin to do? I have always struggled with the actual join up, the way I thought you were supposed to do it, and I'm thinking that maybe the other way works better with already domesticated horses. Any comments?

No you haven't, I definitely noted that he said look the horse in the eye, rub it between the eyes and then walk away. I must admit that I don't quite agree with not looking a horse in the eye anyway when taken to the extreme. It all depends on the circumstances. For instance when catching a horse if you stare at it and aim straight for it then it will often move away. You're right though to point out the difference between a wild horse and a domesticated one. I think you're probably right and he has changed things for a horse that is almost joined up anyway. I think though the eye of the horse is a great way to connect with it. Be interesting to hear from members who study Intelligent Horsemanship.

yehh I thought the same about the looking in the eye which is something I've done before with my horse. Monty has probably been doing some playing around with it and decided that the eyes on eyes for a bit works, I don't do it as long, just a second or two as a way of letting the horse know that I am certain about it sort of thing. Hard to explain but yeh ahaha, I was sooo excited to see Monty on it!! Watching him on it let me know that he's not seeing money as the main objective for what he does, he's honestly passionate about it and loves to see everyone have a go =)

I picked up on that too, did they also mention he had adapted it over the years? Although, that was the first time i have heard him say the new method. It was great to see Martin trying it out too!
