i have been riding on and off since i was 10yrs old, i am now 41yrs old and still i am scared to canter! i did once in Oxon, but it was controlled by a leader horse and my instructor at that time. i did enjoy it, but couldn't repeat it on my horse when i returned! i have got virtually no confidence and now i can't feel my legs from the knees to my feet!! all i want is to be able to stay on when my horse 'goes', and i'd like to be able to canter her in the forests and on the beach!!

Maybe have some lunge lessons to work on your balance in canter without having to control the horse? This means you are free to get you balance and enjoy the canter and eventually you will be confident enough to do it yourself :) |
