Is there anything you can put on scar's to help the hair grow over them faster. When we got Joe out of the paddock, a horse has bitten him really badly, and its on his rump.. and I dont know how to get rid of it any ideas?

Grenville gets loads of scars and most of them are from racing but some are from field tussles, i find keeping them moisturised (even if just with water on a sponge) and preventing them from drying up helps the skin repair itself and the hair grow back :) But i wouldn't worry too much as normally when your horses coat changes from summer to winter or winter to summer the sudden growth of hair often makes the scars disappear :)

Hi, you could try Coconut Oil, that tends to help hair regrow the correct colour and quickly, or Cornucresin, you know the hoof stuff, that helps with the colour too, coz sometimes you only get white hair regrow. You have to watch that Camrosa, because it doesn't suit all animals a friend of mine had a dog with excema and it made it worse, and don't pick the scab off that can make them worse. Good luck!

jess is right.. you mainly just want to keep the scaring as soft as you can.. that way the hair will go through easier.. when you feed him or when you are grooming him (whenever you are near him) just put something moisturising on.. i use baby oil a lot too.. only used the bio oil on a show horse.. the jumpers can have scars i dont mind.
