Well first thin I'd say is join-up (i go from a Monty Roberts training method). What kind of ground training do you mean? Like spooky stuff or...?

well plastic bag training is GREAT for bond building once you've initiated the join up and follow up! Pressure and release is the key. Low energy levels is also the key. If you're calm but assertive, not aggressive but not scared just sure of your ground and where you stand. Start off with just rubbing your horse all over with your hand or even a whip, preferable a dressage whip if you're unsure about certain sensitive areas, this would be a great first session if he's sensitive. Or if he's afraid of the whip. If he moves away from it keep it on him until he stops. As soon as he stops reward him through the whip going away, start off with the most sensitive area such as the shoulder or top of back then move to the flanks and belly. Then if this session was quite intense leave it on a good note such as him not moving away at all or standing for a lot longer etc. Then for the next session start off with join up and then go back to rubbing with the whip and if that's quick and easy then begin with the plastic bag. Use a wooden stick or even a lunge whip (that's what we did aha) and attach a plastic bag with sticky tape! Don't make it so it's flying about you want him to get use to the plastic feel at first, do this probably for a few sessions as it is something that can be a bit iffy, but if he responds really well after two then go ahead with unwrapping most of the sticky tape allowing it to be blown by the wind and work with him in the same way. I'll see if there's anything like this on youtube to give you a visual idea. I hope this made sense! Please let me know if it doesn't!

this is a bunch of snippets from his DVD 'Gentling your spooky horse' this is great to watch with the full version but of course they are costly so you want to make sure you're def. into it if you want to buy it. If you catch a glimpse near the middle-end of the plastic bags

Have you anyone who can lend you the Parelli "get started" DVD? (You can borrow mine but you might find one nearer than Somerset uk lol). I can understand anyone finding the man objectionable, BUT the system is second to one in building an on-the-ground relationship & especially with a difficult horse you certainly won't regret it if you give it a go.

I've never been able to understand the 7 games, i've read about them but I don't know how to do them/ what to do etc. I haven't put that much effort into full on finding but the things I found were written and the only ones I remember finding were of pat parrelli doing them as like a show rather than teaching people how to do it =\
