Do members favour freeze marking? Micro-chipping? Hoof marking?
In the past I've used freeze marking but you have to pay a retainer annually now which has put me off. Micro-chips you can't see so aren't a deterrent. In my winter mud nor would hoof marking be seen. There is a (recently put in, really annoying) farm track down one side of my land & the track's owner doesn't always shut/lock the gate & is unresponsive to requests to do so. It'd be so easy, when my horses are in that paddock, for someone to park there, cut through my fence & load up my horses so I've been wondering about more security |

I have got Bo microchipped but he also has a freezemark horse shoe impression on his back, this small freezemark will tell sales and auctioneers.vets, and anyone purchasing him to check for the microchip.not that im going to sell him it is a safeguard against theft. |

we are pretty hidden so im not too worried about theft. when they are in the field they will protect each other and when they are in their stables, Hudson who looks after the pheasants lives right beside the yard, and well, he has a shotgun haha |

We are pretty hidden too but am planning to get my lad microchipped as a freezemark would be no use as a deterant on a grey! |

You can freezemark greys, but it has to be done for longer, to make a bald mark |

Hi freeze marked , micro chipped, and do nightly patrols driving past field between all the owners, gates locked and a chain across. Would be awful if it ever happened. Hope it never happens to any of us. |

my yard gate is locked & all 3 ponies are freeze marked, the annual fee for each one is £12.95 well worth it I think, plus you can get signs to put on gates & patches for rugs warning that they are marked.
