Although I'm against all the health and safety idiocy in this country I still think it's worth taking a few safety precautions. I've always meant to go on a first aid course because I wouldn't forgive myself if someone had an accident or illness when I was with them and I didn't know what to do. However as yet I haven't been on a course (!) but I have just put the St Johns Ambulance First Aid app on my iPhone-it even has a recording that talks you through giving someone resuscitation. As for our own personal safety I've heard about riders putting ICE In Case Of Emergency numbers in their phones of people they would want to be contacted. Eg ICE1- husband ICE2 - mum and so on. You then put a sticker on the back of your phone to highlight them. Does anyone else do this or have any other ideas?

That is a really good idea, must admit I have not put ICE numbers in my phone, but really should! Infact, sometimes I have forgotton my phone lately as I have a new pair of jods and a tiny poket! Just wondered how good mobile phone holders are and which types are the best? As I should really invest in one for the summer weather with no suitable pockets to put my phone in!

Em28 - the ones that go round your arm are best although I put it round my boot!(http://www.shiresequestrian.co.uk/shop/product.php?productid=33&cat=0&page=1) and also sherwood jods have two zipped pockets on them....only real reason I buy them over other brands!

Mine's called Fixaphone, I wear it round my arm, but it depends on the shape of your phone- mine fits my cheap Sony Ericsson but not my adult son's I-phone lol!!

Thanks everyone, that's a good idea jods with a zip pocket. Think I will invest in both! Really useful to know about different makes of jods too, I wasnt overly impressed with my recent pair but they were the only make that had my size at the local saddlery and I didnt want to go away empty handed! Jods seem to vary in the fit so much some look ridiculous and that's not even the breeches!

i am never without my phone anywhere! haha wether it is in my pocket or tucked into my boot lol. there are alot of people at my yard to ride with so i guess we are always in numbers. if we go out on the road we always say to someone where we are going :) i also dont have ICE numbers in my fone but if someone looked they would see mum and daddy in my contacts lol

I am really lucky as now it is compulsory to learn CPR and other first aid in school so i have the know how but there will be plenty of video's on the internet on the recovery posision, what to do if someone is unconcious etc. Also i know this has been said but mobiles are life savers (literally)! So make sure you always have it, i have a little pocket holder thing that goes around my arm as jods with zip pockets usually break, unzip or are ridiculously priced, i just use my holder :) keeps it out the way...
