I have an eight year old 16.3h throughbred that I bought 3 weeks ago he was very under weight when I took him but already he is looking better. My question is how much do I feed him? I give him karon oil. At the livery stables they only normally keep cobs and generally just feed them once a day and then leave them on grass! I think he should be fed hard feed twice a day with either grass or haylage am I right? Also how many scoops should it be? And the last bit of my question is that he is loosing hair could that be linked to his food? There are no scabs or itchyness or traces of insects!

If your horse is gaining weight I don't see what the problem is? Most horses don't need more than plenty of god quality forage. Check teeth too. Best wishes HorseVet
