Redted & crystal have hay am & pm, they are happy to share a haynet & have about 10lb am & 16-18lb pm, they also have 2 meals a day of happyhoof & carrots, the hay stops early spring as I have to watch their weight, magic has 2 meals of happyhoof & carrots but is fed haylage as he coughs a bit on hay, am he has 6lb, pm 10lb, it can all change a bit depending on the amount of grass through the winter, but also he has to be watched for weight so as soon as the first signs of grass appears hay will stop but they all have happyhoof all year round.

since the snow has gone magic has stopped eating his haylage so must be finding enough grass which is great.

Agree with you Ponypower, I too have land that was dairy pasture. Mine get (winter) 1 slice of high fibre haylage each, & that only cos it's so frosty lol!! & a tiny feed of high fibre Dengie (2 handfuls) plus a handful of pasture mix, tho' I do give a measure of Selenavite E cos it's meant to be a low Selenium area, & salt.

Pinky, has hay at lib, which is generally placed into 2 horse hage nets he also has 2 small feeds each day which consist of happy hoof (a couple of handfuls) and has the occasional apple/carrot, I am more inclined to give him some Swede or turnip,or cabbage. We have only winter turnout paddocks which end up like a huge mud bath but he likes the opportunity to kick up his heels and also have a good roll, in the summer I have my own fields which are never fertilized and start his grazing off with a could of hours each day and gradually increase it and by the middle of the summer is out 24hrs, thankfully we have never had any problems (touch wood). In the Autumn if there is another rush of grass he would be in during the day and out at night, Pinky is worked everyday for approx. 2-3 hrs, and this appears to work well for him.

I have a cob & a trotting pony they both live out the trotting pony wears a rug but my cob is naked (his choice, he trashed every rug i put on him) They are fed adlib hay as there is no grass & they get a scoop each of molichaff, a vitamin supplement, carrots/ apples & oil every day. They havent lost any condition this year so i think i have it sorted for them. Im lucky i havent had to worry about laminitis but i sill watch their weight.

Mine gets high fibre nuts and speedibeet with carrots/apples etc in winter (half scoop of each) hay and oatstraw and a mineral lick, in summer he gets a token feed for when he is ridden in summer which could be some nuts or a carrot or something and he gets grazing all year round. I like him to really lose quite a bit in winter to ensure there is a minimal risk coming into spring even if I can't ride much in winter due to weather. I bring him back into work when I can and get him hunting fit worked 6 days a week, no laminitis risk then :)
