ON HORSES FOR HORSES - Trot on around the world | 175 members |
| Another year,another challenge for On Horses for Horses. In march last year I decided it was time to go ahead and finalise some vague ideas I had to raise funds for equine welfare. I decided to organise a ride around the world and support the charity World Horse Welfare to support. I chose them because, although they are UK based, their attention and care for horses spreads world wide with many projects in different countries and on different continents. I knew fine that my cheeky Chap Chazbo and I were not going to pull that one off, so I came up with the idea of many people riding X amount of miles and add it up to reach 24906 miles, the circumference of the earth. I set the date for September 25th and started to harass people into joining or at least help me promote it. On the day 245 people rode in 10 countries and we clocked up 3394.75 miles raising £2290.15 for World Horse Welfare. A great result but not quite what I had aimed for. Hence, naturally, being as determined as I am I still want to reach 24906 miles and raise as much money as possible for World Horse Welfare. Knowing how shows, competitions, family commitments and the odd hang over got in the way on September 25th I decided that the whole Month of September will be On Horses for Horses Month. We invite you to organise any kind of activity involving horses, seek sponsorship and take part in this global challenge to make a difference for our equine friends. You can pick any day you wish in the month of September.
