The ISRB was started in the late 80’s as a Scientific Research Organization dedicated mostly to improving the plight of the horse from riders who sit badly, and to provide training for coaches and riders. The more we learn about how the rider affects the horse, the more important we realize it is to sit well and in good balance. Little did even I realize when this all started that a rider can actually change the way the horse’s bones grow so much that after time, e.g., a polo horse’s BONES in the feet can be almost an inch longer on one side to compensate for the rider always leaning over! I thought sitting well was all about performing better, and it is, but it’s so much more important than that.
