Welcome to the using eletric fence with new foals Community Group on Trot ON. can i just ask a quick question ? is it safe to use a electric fence ( the white tape one ) with a new foal ? ? my minnie has just deciced to put on 20 stone in a nite and have checked and she has all the signs that she will be having a new foal in the next few weeks - crapping my pants is the word that comes to my mind !!! she just breaks and walks through all fencing i have had and i do my best to keep her in and then i found that the only way to do it was have the eletric fence. It has to be on as is does not scare her and when i tried to have it there and off she just went in to it and got her tail caught and ragged it round the field with out a care in the world. what is everyones thought please - an no scaring me with stories what are going too far as this is all new to me and i just want a simple answer My friend said no cos it will hurt them - my other said show the foal it and sting it and then it will learn Thanks for your time and look forward to answer and thoughts Nicola
