hiya i have a lovely gentle chubby coloured cob and i had her all brushed and clean ready for her dressage test the next day which was saturday. i left her in the stable which she is very calm in and returned the next morning early ready to leave. i removd her stable rug and right on her shoulder near the top of her leg was this massive lump about the size of ping pong ball but more oval shape. i poked it squeezed it prodded it pushed it flicked it you name it and sh didnt bother at all. so i decided totake her for her test she performed well and managed to claim 1st prize. follwing the saturday dressage test i had her fuly clipped on the monday which gave me the advantage to get a closer look at the lump as she was quite hairy, but no head on it or anything just a lump under the skin which had come from no where. again the following saturday the lump is still there it hasnt shrunk or grew in size ive again poked it squeezed it and still no reaction from my girl but what the hell is it should i be calling the vet out in a mad panick yet? i really hope someone can help as i love my litle chuby pony but im really worried about her. i should add on that the weekend before the dressage test she was struggling when cantering and turning corners at the local show luckily there was a farrier onsite and he said that she had a skirt on the hoof and i was making her land funny and i took her home straight away and phoned my farrier who was lovely and seen to her straight away and trimed the skirt off and i gave her the week off till the friday and on the friday she was sound. my pony has never been lame or had any trouble at all she is barefoot and not foot sore at all. the lump was on one of her front legs but the skirt was on one of her back legs plzzzzzzzzz help there is no heat in the lump and also its a hard lump

Hi, If it aint broke don't fix it!! Keep an eye on it but if it's not causing pain or discomfort and not affecting performance I wouldn't worry. Obviously if it changes in size or gets more sensitive, gets a head etc then you can rethink getting it investigated. Best wishes HorseVet
