Hi, my gelding when I bought him had a huge build up of muck on his penis. He is very wary of you going anywhere near it and will kick out something that is totally out of character. I perservered and managed to get some cleaner on it before it disappeared! The muck (which looked like bark)has eventually fallen off but his penis now has little pea size lumps all over it they look awful but not infected. He had anti-biotics but these little lumps are still there and worrying me, is this normal after such a huge build up, it looked like it had not been cleaned ever and he is 11!!!

If it's not bothering him then I wouldn't worry too much. There are 2 schools of thought regarding the necessity to clean it. If you have to have him sedated for something else use the opportunity to clean it if necessary. It may be he has a few warts or something but if it isn't affecting his health adversely and 11 years seems to suggest it hasn't then there shouldn't be any further problems but obviously keep an eye on him when he has a pee and look for unusual changes or signs of discomfort/infection.
