I think it is just so sad a way to go....where ever you seem to go these days authorities seem to be making and taking away decisions from ordinary people...if you have a dog you act responsibility or you don't have a dog ...you don't need other people to make those decisions for you! Its a GRRR from me too! IMHO proves that Suffolk is run by townies not proper countryfolk...they will be suggesting nappies for horses next!

Hi Kibby, it's interesting to hear from members like yourself who live in countries that can get really hot-so how come that's not a problem for you guys? |

I'm not a dog owner so I always feel a bit left out at Badminton Cross Country day or our local agricultural show, I'm almost tempted to borrow a friend's Jack Russell to take with me! I think people who take their dogs to shows are generally responsible, and I love spotting the different breeds. What a shame. |

A definite GRRRR from me!! We are going to the Suffolk tomorrow to show the whippets (4 of them) and we won't be able to go and take a look around the rest of the show! We always go to the Norfolk and after the dogs have done their bit they come for a stroll around the show ground. If its hot we sit in the shade and if its really really hot, we don't stop long, though there's generally a breezy spot on the Norfolk show ground. Sadly we won't be able to say much for the Suffolk! |

I've never noticed the dogs to really struggle that much anyway. I also think part of it is our summers hit 35+ from novemeber onwards and a lot of days 40s. Needless to say we don't jump in this heat so no comps but the dogs are still outside in it. Then when you come to our normal winter comp weather it's usually around 20-25 in the day. So it's really not much for them to have to deal with. And also because our comps are camping ones (we have to travel so far to compete) the dogs are usually left tied up to the float. Pup has a bed under the float and accsess to water. This is during the busiest riding time so in the heat of the day. |

Angelalain, it's just so stupid!! I went to the Suffolk Show yesterday and until about 2pm it wasn't even very hot so would have been fine for dogs. It just actually seemed weird not seeing any there and as a friend pointed out, it looked like some big outdoor shopping mall. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy myself, and as I said, I wouldn't have taken my dog anyway, as I like to take videos and photographs-my badly trained JR's aren't very helpful on that front lol. So, if as Kibby proves heat isn't a problem, unless someone is stupid enough to leave their dog in a car on a hot day, than it all comes down to dog s***!! I think we should send the organisers to Paris as punishment lol Oh and Codybelle, next time you go to Badminton and want a JR, you can have one of mine :)

The heat is never an issue unless you have terribly hairy with the really hairy undercoats. But then most people clip for comfort. So it's really just about people being responsible. If it's that bad get some people to patrol around. I wouldn't go without my pup. She literally comes with me just about everywhere. |

Ha ha, now this is barking-check out the link. Germaine Greer says that dogs should be kept out of British Woods. I wonder if she's on the Suffolk Show Committee -yip yip, yaoooooo!! http://tinyurl.com/3umt3e9 |
